Pascal Chimbonda sends 11-word message to Tottenham players after dismal run of form

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they host Slovenian side NS Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

It has been a difficult few weeks for Nuno Espirito Santo's men, who have failed to win any of their last five matches in normal time since the first international break.

Having began the season so promisingly with three successive victories, Spurs crumbled to a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace before losing three of their next four, including last weekend's North London Derby.

They will, though, want to get up and running in Europe after starting Group G with a 2-2 draw at Rennes courtesy of an own-goal and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's equaliser.

Spurs' opponents, NS Mura, were beaten 2-0 against Vitesse in their first game of the competition and have only won one of their last three domestic games, too.

But the focus will be on how Espirito Santo's side respond to the loss at Arsenal and they will need the support of their fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Former defender Pascal Chimbonda has sent a message to the Spurs team and hopes that they can return to some kind of good form.

Responding to Tottenham's 'Back at home tomorrow night' Instagram post, Chimbonda said: "Time to [get] back winning and make our fans enjoy it again #coys."

The defender appeared over 50 times in a Tottenham shirt across two spells and he also helped deliver their last major trophy; the League Cup in 2008.

This new European competition is a chance for the north London club to try and get their hands on a piece of silverware and a victory over Mura would put them in the right direction.

Espirito Santo knows the importance of the fixture and how a win could lift the mood in the dressing room following a tough run.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: "Of course, and we need to change it today and tomorrow and the day after. Because this is the moment when we have to react.

"As you can imagine, it’s not a good feeling this way, like we are feeling now, like our fans are feeling now, it’s not good. But the difference between us and our fans is that we can change it.

"We can change it. It's up to us to change it."
