The host of the party where a BLM activist was shot in the head has described how people were "panicked" and "running" following the attack.
Sasha Johnson, 27, is fighting for her life following the shooting at the 30th birthday celebration in Peckham, south east London, in the early hours of Sunday.
The mum-of-two was in the garden at the party when a gunman opened fire and she was hit.
Donna, is the mum of Sasha's partner, and was hosting the birthday party for her daughter's birthday at her home when the tragedy occured.
She told MyLondon : "We were having a birthday gathering and men came in and shot into my garden.
"They fired two shots, people were just panicked, running, I was telling everyone to get into the house because the gunmen didn’t come in the house they just shot from outside.
"There were about 30 people or so there. They were all panicked but only Sasha was shot."
Police say they do not believe Sasha, an Oxford graduate, was the "intended victim" but a spokesman for Taking the Initiative Party (TTIP) said Sasha, who is a member, had received numerous death threats as a result of her activism.
BLM activist Imarn Ayton, who met Sasha during the BLM protests last year, said that she does not believe the shooting was associated with Sasha's activism.
But she added: "Ultimately we all don’t know" and "out of respect to her family, it’s not fair to speculate."
In a statement published on Instagram, TTIP said: "It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has been brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to her head.
"She is currently in intensive care and in a critical condition. The attack happened in the early hours of (Sunday, May 23) morning, following numerous death threats as a result of her activism.
"Sasha has always been actively fighting for black people and the injustices that surround the black community, as well as being both a member of BLM and a member of Taking the Initiative Party's Executive Leadership Committee.
"Sasha is also a mother-of-two and a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community.
"Let's all come together and pray for Sasha, pray for her recovery and show our support to her family and loved ones. #prayforsashajohnson'."
Police have appealed to residents near the scene to check any doorbell or dashcam footage for anything that could help their investigation.
No arrests have been made.
