What’s new: A major artistic performance celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party has been rescheduled to take place on Monday in Beijing, a day earlier than originally planned, according to an announcement released by local police.
The announcement did not specify the reasons for the scheduling change. General traffic will be banned from the vicinity of the National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, which the country first used to hold its Olympic Games opening ceremony and athletic events in 2008.
The background: National leaders and party representatives will be invited to attend the show, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency.
