Parts of the Liverpool City Region with highest and lowest covid rates

Most parts of our city region are seeing a huge decline in coronavirus infection rates – with all boroughs now below 70 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral continues to be the region with the lowest rate again this week, but Liverpool is not far behind.

The Liverpool City Region’s average infection rate for the week ending March 6 was 62 cases per 100,000, with 882 new cases.

Two weeks prior to these figures, on February 20 the infection rate for the region was 150 per 100,000, with 2,149 new cases.

As in previous weeks, cases are considerably lower in some neighbourhoods, than others.

And some, sadly, saw their number of cases rise in the week up to March 4.

Currently, Orrell Park is the city region’s worst impacted neighbourhood.

Its infection rate is currently 387 per 100,000 – though this is a decrease of 42%, up from 683 in the previous week.

The area known as Seaforth North saw the biggest increase in infection rates.

Cases numbers jumped from two to 14, an increase of 600% – albeit from a low base.

Forty five neighbourhoods are currently listed as having “suppressed” the virus. This is up from fourteen in the previous week.

This means there were just two or fewer confirmed cases.

Data is not shown for areas with fewer than 3 cases to protect individuals’ identities.

The areas of the city region which currently have the highest infection rates are:

Orrell Park – 387 per 100,000
Town Centre East and Fingerpost – 233 per 100,000
