Parts of the Liverpool City Region with highest and lowest covid rates

Most parts of the Liverpool City Region are seeing a further decline in coronavirus infection rates.

Case numbers are falling in all six boroughs, with Wirral having the lowest rate again this week.

The Liverpool City Region’s average infection rate for the week ending February 13 was 194 cases per 100,000 people, with 3,018 new cases.

Two weeks prior to these figures, on January 30, the infection rate for the region was 375 per 100,000 people, with 5,840 new cases.

As in previous weeks, cases are considerably lower in some neighbourhoods than others.

And some, sadly, saw their number of cases rise in the week up to February 11.

Currently, the area known as Kirkby South East is the city region’s worst impacted neighbourhood.

See how coronavirus is currently impacting your local area by entering your postcode below:

Its infection rate is currently 801 per 100,000 – an increase of 77%, up from 453 in the previous week.

The area which saw the biggest increase is Netherley, where confirmed new case numbers jumped from 15 to 28 – an increase of 87%.

The least impacted of the region’s neighbourhoods is Aigburth and Grassendale, which is listed as having “suppressed” the virus.

This means there were just two or fewer confirmed cases.

Data is not shown for areas with fewer than 3 cases to protect individuals’ identities.

Most of the region’s neighbourhoods saw their case numbers drop.

Of these, Whiston South saw the biggest decline in infection, with cases dropping from 24 to four in a week – an 83% decrease.

This gives an infection rate of 63 per 100,000.

The areas of the city region which currently have the highest infection rates are:

Kirkby South East – 801 per 100,000
Fazakerley South – 691 per 100,000
Southport Waterfront – 586 per 100,000
Prescot – 497 per 100,000
Netherley – 486 per 100,000

Those with the lowest are:

Aigburth and Grassendale – two or fewer cases
West Kirby – 38 per 100,000
Heswall – 40 per 100,000
Blundellsands – 48 per 100,000
