Parts of Leeds could flood this week as Met Office issues warning

Sections of Leeds could be flooded on Thursday and Friday this week, the Met Office has said.

A yellow weather warning for Yorkshire and parts of the North East and East Midlands on Thursday and Friday, has been issued by the Met Office.

Prolonged rain is expected through Thursday and overnight into Friday which may lead to flooding and resulting disruption.

The warning says: "Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings."

There may be delays of cancellations to train and bus services while surface water and spray may make driving conditions more difficult.

The Met Office adds: "There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads."

The warning is in place for Thursday and Friday (Met Office)

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is expected to start dry with possible sunny spells until around midday. The afternoon is forecast to be grey followed by rain in the evening.

The majority of Thursday is expected to be wet although it is expected to dry out somewhat on Friday. A weather warning still stands on Friday, however.

Temperatures are expected to remain cool with lows of 3°C and highs of 8°C.
