Parts of Glasgow in the dark after power cut

Large parts of Glasgow have been hit by a blackout this evening.

Scottish Power first confirmed people living in the G15 postcode area – which covers Drumchapel – are without electricity after a fault was experienced at around 5.48pm.

Shortly afterwards, SP Energy Networks updated their website to show that homes in the G3, G4, G12, G20, G21, G22, G23. G62, G64 and G66 postcode areas were also suffering an outage due to the same issue.

Reports on social media mentioned power cuts had been reported in other areas such as Maryhill, Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Lennoxtown, Milngavie, Milton, Balmore and Kilmardinny.

The energy supplier said they have engineers out trying to fix the fault, which they will also be trying to sort remotely.
