Partick Thistle skipper wary of "young and energetic" Hamilton Accies

Partick Thistle skipper Ross Docherty says they won't be fooled by Hamilton Accies start to the season, as they prepare to face each other under the lights at New Douglas Park tomorrow night.

Docherty' side were promoted from League One as champions last term, while Accies were relegated from the top flight.

It's been more than three years since the sides last faced each other, with the Jags coming out on top in that meeting with a 2-1 victory in the top flight in May 2018.

Although Partick have made the better start to the season - sitting fifth compared to Accies in eighth - Docherty is wary of Stuart Taylor's young side.

After a period if transition under Taylor following Brian Rice's resignation as head coach, Accies stunned league leaders Inverness in South Lanarkshire on their last league outing.

And former Airdrie midfielder Docherty told Partick's club media: "It's never easy at Hamilton.

"They'll be young, energetic and they've got a lot of boys who played in the Premiership last year so they won't be bad players.

"I know they came down and they've maybe not started great, but it's never an easy game going there.

"You know you are going to be up against it, it will be a bit of a battle, so it will be a hard one."

The clash kicks-off at 7.45pm tomorrow night and will be shown live on the BBC Scotland channel.

Partick go into the clash off having won just once in their last four league outings, claiming a 4-0 home triumph over Ayr on October 2.

Meanwhile, Accies today announced their SPFL Trust Trophy quarter-final against Kilmarnock will be played on Tuesday, November 30 at New Douglas Park.

Kick-off will be 7.45pm.
