Partick Thistle legend Kris Doolan a target for East Kilbride

Ambitious East Kilbride are bidding to bring Partick Thistle legend Kris Doolan to K-Park.

Kilby gaffer Stevie Aitken is in the market for a new striker and Lanarkshire Live Sport understands they are set to make a move following his exit from Greenock Morton yesterday.

Doolan's former Patrick Thistle team-mates Chris Erskine and Paul Paton joined Kilby last month and they could be reunited for a crack at the Lowland League title this season.

The 33-year-old, who has been on Kilby's wishlist for a number of weeks, spent a decade at Firhill, scoring over 100 goals for the Jags, and has also enjoyed spells at Clyde and Ayr United.

Ton gaffer David Hopkin had hoped to keep Doolan at Cappielow, but was unable to offer him a new deal when his contract with the Championship side expired.

If Kilby can entice Doolan to South Lanarkshire it would mark yet another significant signing coup following the arrivals of Erskine, Paton, New Zealand cap Steven Old, full-back Richard Kirwan, ex-Airdrie man Kyle Wilkie, defender Lewis Kidd and former Motherwell and Clyde forward Darren Smith.

EK are also expected to announce the signing of ex-Rangers midfielder Kyle Hutton next week following his exit from Dumbarton.
