Partick Thistle hold no fear for Airdrie, says defender Leon McCann

Airdrie defender Leon McCann says his side has hit form at the right time and have nothing to fear from League One leaders Partick Thistle on Saturday.

A 2-0 win over rivals East Fife on Tuesday put Airdrie fourth in the table, four behind new leaders Thistle and two behind Falkirk and Cove Rangers in second and third, respectively.

It also continued Airdrie's run of form, where they've taken four wins and a draw from their last five games.

That continues on Saturday as Airdrie head to Firhill to face a Thistle side that have two wins under their belts against Airdrie this season.

But the former Hamilton Accies stopper says the Diamonds have hit form at the right time as they go into the final four games.

A delighted McCann told Airdrie's website: "It's a good run of form for the boys.

"Personally I'm happy with my performances, I think I've consistently done well since we came back, and every single one of the boys has been excellent.

"We just seem to be able to get these goals that we couldn't get a few months ago.

Airdrie hope for a first win of the season against Thistle (Airdrie FC)

"As a team we feel we're still getting better, and it's coming at the right time for the split and the play-offs."

Despite their poor record against Ian McCall's Thistle this season, McCann says Airdrie have nothing to fear from that trip to Firhill.

He said: "I think in the first game at Firhill we deserved more, we did really well.

"In the home game against them we started well, but a crazy ten minutes cost us the game.

"I don't think we need to change too much.

"If we start well, stay tight-knit at the back and take our chances when they come, we're more than capable of going there and getting the win.

"There are just small things we can improve upon, but it would be silly to change a winning side, winning tactics and a winning mentality."
