Partick Thistle hero and East Kilbride star Chris Erskine has successful operation in London

East Kilbride star Chris Erskine is on the mend after flying down to London last week for surgery on a hamstring injury.

Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed last week that the attacking midfielder will be sidelined for three months after tearing his hamstring in training earlier this month, while on loan at Partick Thistle.

And he remains on track to return to action in July for start of next season after seeing a specialist in London

Erskine told Lanarkshire Live Sport : “It all went well.

"The guy I went to see was the specialist in the injury I have and he’s said everything went to plan.

“There’s no problems and I’m happy with it.

“I’m in a brace and crutches for three weeks and then after that I can start trying to rehab it.

“I should be back playing within three months and that is still the target.

“I only got it a couple of days ago and everyone is different in terms of their recovery, but off of what the specialist has done in the past that should be about right.

“Fingers crossed I’ll be back for the start of the season.”

Erskine revealed he and his wife Heather had considered driving down, but he was delighted he made the decision to catch a flight instead.

“He added: “My wife was going to drive us down because I wasn’t sure how the injury would react to being on a plane, but seven-and-half hours down and then back up wouldn’t have been great.

“We decided to fly and stayed close to the hospital and I’m glad we flew down.

“It was uncomfortable enough on the plane for an hour, so it was a good decision.”
