Partick Thistle BAN SFA and SPFL as Jags hit back after controversial demotion

Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has revealed that the SFA and SPFL will be barred from Firhill after their controversial demotion.

The Jags were relegated from the Championship on a points-per-game basis, going down with just 0.04 points between them and Queen of the South.

Thistle roared back by winning the League One title and will be given the trophy on Wednesday.

But no-one from the two governing bodies will be there as the club slapped a ban on them.

McCall said on BBC Sportsound: "It'll be eerie getting the trophy on Wednesday and all the players get their medals.

"Luckily for us the club and me were in complete agreement because nobody from the SFA and the SPFL will be allowed in the stadium, which is great.

"That's happening, they're not allowed in the stadium. Simple as that."

Fellow guest Tom English then sought clarification over whether SPFL chief Neil Doncaster is banned from Firhill.

McCall confirmed: "Yes. They won't be allowed in.

"I'm not going to go into all that tonight, but the reason I said to Chick (Young) about love and peace was Chick was doing what he should be doing, trying to prod me and get things.

"But is it really going to make a difference? Is the governance going to change when it's been incompetent for decades now?

"Is it going to change? I don't know, we just need to try and look after ourselves and try and win another title next season."

And McCall feels an understanding of the problems is sorely lacking as he revealed a text from Doncaster after sealing the title.

The Thistle boss continued: "Do you know what really worries me? Myself and my chief executive Gerry Britton got texts from Neil Doncaster saying, 'congratulations, worthy champions'.

"That level of... just not knowing what's going on, not understanding, closing your eyes to a situation, is bewildering!

"Did I reply? Absolutely not! He can think better than to send a text to the bloody manager of Partick Thistle!"
