Goalkeeper Max Currie says title favourites Partick Thistle and Falkirk are "just like everybody else" after Airdrie were handed a tough fixture list for the new campaign.
The Diamond s new boy is relishing the challenge facing o the club for the reduced 27-game season with two trips to Firhill and the Falkirk.
Currie reckons there is a reason the sides are in the third-tier and doesn't see a reason why Ian Murray's men can't challenge for the title.
The 23-year-old said: “With Peterhead at home it’s a game we will be expected to win, and then Partick Thistle away, it’s a good couple of games.
“Airdrie went to Falkirk last season and won; we can do it again. Let’s face it, although Partick Thistle and Falkirk might be expected to win the league, they are in League One just like everybody else.
“There is no real reason we can’t go to these places and get a result.
“Playing against the better teams and getting a result will set you up for the season we want to have.
“Momentum is important early on with the 27 games. We will most importantly try to win the home games, and this season that should make us at least about the play-off positions.”
Airdrie start the season with a home game against Peterhead on August 17.
