Partial A1 road closure caused by burst water main at Tuxford

The exit for the A1 heading south at Tuxford is currently closed due to a burst water main in the area.

Supplier, Anglian Water confirmed on its website work is in progress but there is a current interruption to the water supply with the possibility of low pressure or no water for households in Ashvale Road, Tuxford.

Anglian Water has apologised to its customers through the In Your Area part of its website adding: "We've identified a burst water main in your area that we're working hard to get fixes, so that we can get your supply back to normal as soon as possible."

Engineers are classed as key workers and are following the latest Government guidance regarding Covid-19 to keep a distance.

Anglian Water have stated supplies should be restored by midday in the most recent update at 5.35am.

The incident is also impacting main roads such as the A1.

At around 3am on Tuesday morning, Highways England tweeted: "The A1 southbound exit slip road at Tuxford (A6075) is currently being closed due to a burst water main in the area. Maintenance Crews are currently at the scene.

"Anglian Water have indicated this will be closed until early Wednesday morning."
