Part of the cycle path running along Temple Way has been closed.
The temporarily closed section runs behind the Metrobus stops immediately adjacent to the privately-owned Grosvenor Hotel.
Fencing and closure notices are in place, Bristol City Council said, and the temporary route closure is in place to ensure public safety while scaffolding around the hotel is replaced and upgraded.
A council statement said: "As work on the scaffolding occurs, council officers will continue to monitor the state of the building and take any action necessary to ensure public safety.
"The closure of the cycleway is expected until the replacement scaffolding is in place.
"A diversion is in place around the opposite side of the hotel."
A section of the Brunel Mile cycling and walking route near the hotel was also temporarily closed in late May until later this month.
"The scaffolding was originally installed by the owners of the Grosvenor Hotel at the request of the council to prevent any further loose masonry falling from the building onto the adjacent highway and causing harm to the public", the statement continued.
Bristol City Council is progressing a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for land and property in this area including the Grosvenor Hotel site as part of the Temple Quarter regeneration.
The site will be redeveloped alongside the former George and Railway building to provide new office space for key business sectors including creative, digital, low carbon and high tech businesses.
