PART of a major Scottish motorway has been closed following a road incident.
A collision occurred on the M74 northbound just before 7.30 am on Wednesday morning.
One lane and the on slip near junction six Hamilton interchange were forced to close although the lane has since reopened.
Emergency services are at the scene of the incident and drivers have been told by Traffic Scotland to expect delays due to debris on the road.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
The latest update from Traffic Scotland said: "All lanes now running Northbound at Junction Six following the earlier collision.
"Traffic remains heavy on the approach with approx. 35 minute delay."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7am on Wednesday August 2 2023, we were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the M74 northbound near Hamilton.
“Emergency services attended and there were no reports of any serious injuries.
“The road has fully reopened and enquiries are ongoing.”
