Part of M9 closed as pedestrian, 30s, tragically dies after being hit by car in Kilcullen, Kildare

A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a car in Greenhills in the Kilcullen area of Kildare in the late hours of Saturday night.

Investigating Gardai in Naas said that the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Mortuary in Naas General Hospital.

The driver of the car, a man in his early 20s, was uninjured following the incident.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene, and the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 is closed to allow for examination of the scene with local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any motorists who may have travelled on the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 prior to the collision, who may have witnessed the collision or who may have camera footage of the collision to contact them at Naas Garda Station on 045 - 884300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
