Part of M48 Severn Bridge to remain closed all weekend

Part of the M48 Severn Bridge will be closed all weekend for resurfacing works.

Highways England has said the westbound carriageway - which will affect those travelling from England into Wales - will be closed from J1  Aust to J2 Chepstow.

The closure came into force on Friday night and will remain in place until 6am on Monday morning (September 9).

Motorists have been advised to take a diversion via the M4.

Highways England said on Twitter: "REMINDER: #M48 westbound J1 #Aust to J2 #Chepstow is closed until Monday 6am for resurfacing works.

"Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge. #weekendclosure #weareworkingforyou ."

The bridge takes traffic from Aust in England into south Wales.
