Part of Britain lifts lockdown as island reopens schools and shops

The Isle of Man has lifted all lockdown restrictions with schools reopened and businesses allowed to start trading again.

The island has not had any community transmission of Covid-19 for 20 days.

People are now allowed to leave their homes as normal, without wearing masks, and shops and pubs are open.

But people are still not allowed to enter the island - and natives coming back must quarantine fo 14 days and have three negative Covid tests.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle told Sky News : "We have a government policy of eradication of Covid, not living with it, and I suppose I put that down, the success, down to the great Manx public.

"They've followed the rules, they've been very supportive, patriotic, great community spirit, and it's down to the great Manx public that we find ourselves in this fortunate position again."

The island has now come out of a three-week lockdown.
