Parris Campbell’s return from IR ‘still too early to tell’

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell has been sitting on the injured reserve list since suffering a torn MCL and PCL in the team’s Week 2 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The second-year wideout had surgery over a month ago and is on the mend trying to get back to a team that is fighting for a playoff spot. However, head coach Frank Reich believes it’s still to early to make a clear prediction on a return in 2020.

“At this point, I think it’s too early to tell that. I know he’s working really hard,” Reich told reporters Friday. “So if there is a chance, I know that Parris (Campbell) is the kind of guy that will do everything possible to give himself that chance. But I think it’s still too early to tell that.”

Campbell showed he can be the explosive playmaker the Colts drafted him to be. But the Ohio State product has struggled with injuries during his first two seasons. He did manage to avoid a torn ACL, but this injury and subsequent recovery could keep him out long enough to miss the season.

The Colts offense desperately needs explosive playmakers. They saw a breakout from rookie Michael Pittman Jr. and Marcus Johnson has flashed as well—albeit inconsistently.

If Campbell can somehow make a return late in the season or even the playoffs if the Colts get there, it would be a huge boost to the offense.
