Liam Paro is chasing a statement victory in his welterweight debut that would put him on a world title collision course with his former promoter.
The Australian will face unbeaten French veteran David Papot at Brisbane's Pat Rafter Arena on Thursday in an IBF world title eliminator.
There was more chaos at Wednesday's weigh-in after one undercard fight was scrapped and two others changed because of injuries and visa dramas on Tuesday.
First, Liam Wilson's co-main challenger Jorge Santana fell more than a metre off the back of the stage while undressing.
He landed awkwardly on one leg and there were fears he would need to withdraw.
The Dominican Republic talent was assessed and cleared by medics, before Paro's rival Papot threw another spanner in the works.
Unbeaten in 31 fights, Papot weighed in at 66.82kg, well over the IBF's 66.68kg welterweight limit.
The towels were raised as Papot stripped off and was weighed again, this time just 40 grams over the limit.
Papot then went backstage and returned 20 minutes later to land spot on the limit.
Paro was all smiles throughout, saying he's "fallen in love with boxing again" after not having to cut to the 63.5kg super lightweight limit that he won an IBF world title at last year.
"We're professionals; you've got to make weight if he wants a shot at the title ... there's rules," the Australian said.
"I think he's struggling. If he wasn't, he would have made it.
"I want him 110 per cent; I want no excuses when I put him on his back."
Paro wants the boxing world to take notice of his potential at the heavier weight in a high-profile division that includes Conor Benn, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero and Teofimo Lopez.
"That's the plan, and a win certifies that, but a dominating win inside the distance certifies it even more," Paro said.
"We'll box smart, but if the opening's there for a finish I'll take it with both hands."
The pair are fighting for a shot at an IBF world title that was vacant until Belfast's Lewis Crocker pipped Paddy Donovan to claim the crown on the weekend.
Crocker is promoted by Eddie Hearn, who had Paro in his stable when he upset Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico to win the IBF belt.
Forced to defend it again in Puerto Rico, Paro lost it via split decision to Richardson Hitchins in December, then joined with Australian promoter No Limit chasing greater domestic recognition.
Headlining the first fight to be staged at the Brisbane tennis venue, Paro has done that and expects Hearn to be watching with interest on Thursday night.
Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn has already put a spanner in the works by suggesting his man bypass the Paro-Papot winner and instead fight Benn, who is also in his stable.
"Eddie does what Eddie does," No Limit boss George Rose said.
"He likes to run his own race, but Liam's here to fight everyone and beat everyone.
"If Conor Benn ends up being the guy holding the title, Liam Paro will punch holes in him."
