Parnie Street fire: Road in Trongate closed following house blaze

A road in Glasgow's Trongate is closed after a late night house fire.

Fire crews raced to the scene of the blaze on Parnie Street shortly after 9pm on Friday (30 July).

It's understood four appliances attended the blaze, which was subsequently extinguished just before 1am on Saturday (31 July).

It is not known yet if there are injuries.

A statement from Glasgow City Council read: "Due to an earlier house fire Parnie Street has been closed until further notice. Chisholm Street is restricted to local access only."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at around 9.04pm last night to reports of a building fire in Parnie Street, Glasgow.

"Four appliances and a specialist resources vehicle attended.

"The last appliance left at 12.52am after the fire was extinguished.

“We are not currently aware of any casualties, and the building has been passed over to Glasgow City Council’s Building Control."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
