Parm Star's award winning parmos will be on the menu at By River Brew Co's HWKRMRKT

Award-winning parmos which won a street food competition judged by Michelin-starred chefs will be served on the banks of the Tyne for a limited time.

Teesside-based Parm Star will pop up at By the River Brew Co's By The River Brew Co street food HWKRMRKT to re-open - here are the traders who will be there for four weekends from Friday, May 17, where they are set to cook up chicken and vegetarian parmos .

Parm Star was founded by John Coulson and Lisa Cheung four years ago. The pair left their jobs in London with a vision of taking the Teesside takeaway around the country.

John and Lisa have enjoyed huge success in introducing the North East classic to new pallets. They make both classic parmos and new takes on the chicken, bechamael and cheese combination. So far, Parm Star have appeared at events in cities as far away as Liverpool, London and Bournmouth.

Last year, John and Lisa won the 'Best Main Dish" at the British Street food awards in London for their 'parmo plate' (a fried chicken fillet, bechamel sauce & cheddar cheese, with pickled slaw and fries).

The panel included Michelin-starred chefs Richard Corrigan and Pip Lace, and food writer Gizzi Erskine.

Last year, John told GazetteLive : "When we launched, lots of people said we were mad to try to take the parmo outside Teesside but it’s my favourite food and I’ve always believed.

“We presented it in a pizza box to Michelin-starred chefs and they loved it!”

When will Parm Star be at By The River Brew's HWKRMRKT?

Parm Star will serve at By The River Brew Co. every Friday to Sunday from May 17 until June 9.

Fried chicken fillet, slow-cooked tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese in a bun

Fillet Burger

Fried chicken fillet, burger cheese, pickled slaw & mayo in a bun

Parmo Plate

Half parmo - Fried chicken fillet, bechamel sauce & Cheddar cheese. With pickled slaw & fries (no bun)

Full Parmo Box (limited no.s)

Whole fried chicken fillet, bechamel sauce & cheddar cheese. With pickled slaw & fries.
