NEW DELHI: In both Houses of Parliament on Monday, there were congratulatory messages for the Indian cricket team following their victory in the T20 World Cup.
In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla expressed that the victory would inspire the country's youth and sportspersons. He specifically congratulated the team led by Rohit Sharma for their achievement.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar praised the Indian cricket team for their historic victory in the T20 World Cup.
"Such historic accomplishments inspire every citizen to dream big, work hard and achieve eminence," PTI quoted Dhankhar as saying.
The Chair also commended the South African cricket team for their spirited performance during the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on Saturday.
India clinched the T20 World Cup title after a gap of 17 years, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final held on June 29.
