American actor Jonathan Joss has died after being shot and killed outside his home in San Antonio, Texas. His husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, has alleged that Joss was the target of a homophobic attack.
Joss, 59, is best known for his work on the long-running cartoon King Of The Hill, where he voiced the character of John Redcorn. He also played Ken Hotate on Parks and Recreation.

In a statement to Variety, San Antonio police confirmed that officers were sent out after they received calls about a shooting at a home on Sunday night. Upon arrival, police found Joss on the road suffering from multiple bullet wounds. Police attempted to provide medical assistance before paramedics arrived, but sadly, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooter was reported to be Joss’ 56-year-old neighbour, Sigfredo Alvarex Ceja. He is currently in police custody.

According to a report by TMZ and a statement by Joss’ husband posted to Facebook, de Gonzales claimed the shooting was a result of a homophobic neighbour.
“My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home,” de Gonzales wrote.
“That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times, and nothing was done. Throughout that time, we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic.”
De Gonzales said that upon their return to their property to collect mail, they discovered the skull of one of their dogs and the harness placed in “clear view”.
One of the funniest jokes ever done in King of the Hill is a throwaway line between Dale and John Redcorn.

John Redcorn: "We did … once." https://t.co/5kSOnt0V3C
“This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,” de Gonzales continued.
“While we were doing this, a man approached us. He started yelling violent, homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw.

De Gonzales and Joss had only recently tied the knot. After losing their home in a fire, the couple were planning their futures together.
“He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,” de Gonzales claimed.
“I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family.”
Joss had already recorded his lines for the King Of The Hill revival, which premieres in August. He is expected to feature in episode two of season 14.
Most recently, he has appeared in series including Tulsa King and Ray Donovan, along with the films True Grit and The Magnificent Seven.
