Parklife is cancelled - here's what ticket holders need to know

Parklife has been cancelled for 2020, organisers have announced.

The festival is the biggest fixture in Manchester’s musical calendar and was due to be headlined by Tyler the Creator, Skepta, Lewis Capaldi and Khalid.

The event was scheduled to take place in Heaton Park on June 13 and 14.

It leaves a question mark hanging over a separate performance by Liam Gallagher, which was set to take place the night before the festival on June 12 using the event's infrastructure and stage.

In a message to ticketholders, Parklife organisers said: "Parklife Festival will no longer be taking place this year.

"We've been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation and it has now become clear that it's simply not possible for Parklife 2020 to go ahead.

"This decision has not been taken lightly and of course we're really disappointed. We really did try to make this work. But ultimately it was unavoidable.

"We would like to apologise to everyone who was looking forward to it as much as we were and we would like to thank all of you for such incredible support."

Parklife will return 'stronger than ever' on June 12 and 13 next year, organisers say.

Co-founder Sacha Lord tweeted: "A decision that hasn’t been taken lightly. The safety of our customers, staff and artists come first. We will be back bigger and bolder in 2021. Thank you for your support as ever. Stay safe."

Ticket holders will be entitled to refunds and the festival's ticketing partners will be in touch with customers soon.

Tickets can also be kept and used for next year's festival instead of a refund.

Ticket holders are asked only to contact their ticket outlet if they haven't received an email within the next five days.

"For now, please do look after yourselves, your family and one another, and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon," organisers added.

They’re the latest events to be called off as the country continues to battle the coronavirus crisis.

Music venues have closed and many events scheduled over the next few months have been cancelled or postponed, including Glastonbury.
