Parklife from the sky as police drone reveals incredible images of Heaton Park festival

Here's the Parklife festival - as you've never seen it before.

The spectacular image was captured by a Greater Manchester Police drone soaring high above Heaton Park.

Police drones are in use at the festival this year as part of the security operation.

The eyes in the sky, however, were temporarily grounded due to the early rain on the first morning of Parklife on Saturday.

But as the downpours ended, they were able to take flight again.

The result was this brilliant image showing the sheer volume of festival-goers gathered in front of the main Parklife stage, where Mark Ronson was headlining tonight.

Up to 80,000 are expected on both Saturday and Sunday, with George Ezra, The Streets, Solange and Blossoms all starring.

Parklife 2019, which this year features nine stages, got off to a soggy start - with heavy rain leading to heavy mud on site.

An urgent drugs warning was issued however over purple and pink 'skype' ecstasy pills believed to be in circulation at the festival.

Drug awareness and testing charity The Loop shared an image of a tablet on Twitter on Saturday night.

They said the tablets have been 'linked to welfare cases'.

The pills - said to contain a very high strength of MDMA -  are embossed with the word 'skype'.

The Parklife doors open at noon on Sunday.

The gates are located on Bury Old Road (West Gate), Sheepfoot Lane (East Gate), and by the lake (North Gate) this year. The fast-track entrance for VIP ticket holders is at the Lakeside Gate on Sheepfoot Lane.
