Parklife 2021 pictures as 80,000 people pour into Heaton Park for second day of festival

The Parklife gates are back open and thousands of music fans are pouring into Heaton Park for the second day of the festival.

Today's headline sets from Skepta, Disclosure and Jamie XX will attract around 80,000 people.

And despite a forecast of heavy rain all afternoon, it's doing nothing to dampen the party spirit.

By lunchtime, there were already sizeable crowds milling around the festival's 10 stages, including the awesome giant that is The Valley stage.

The stage, so-called because it lies at the foot of a steep slope, has been designed to look like tower blocks, with LED screens that light up like windows.

The stages look a little different this year, with festival organisers scrapping covered music tents and marquees for more Covid-safe open-air music spaces.

Yesterday, the festival site was heaving all day as Manchester's teens blew off steam after 18 months spent cooped up indoors.
