Park walkers warned after woman allegedly harassed and followed in Tallaght

Park walkers have been warned about a man who allegedly harassed and followed a woman in a Tallaght park on Easter Sunday.

The woman was out at around 9.45am in Bancroft Park yesterday when the man asked her for the time.

But after she said no, he allegedly kept asking her and did not leave her alone until another man came along with his dog.

She said: "Yesterday morning (Easter Sunday) about 9.45 am I was harassed and followed by a man in the 30 acres (Bancroft Park).

"I entered via the Tymon North gate. He wouldn’t leave me alone. His initial question was for the time.

"When I politely said I had no watch he kept asking and asking so I said I had no phone either.

"He was wearing a white T-shirt and light coloured blue jeans. Thankfully a man came along with his dog and the man walked off very quickly immediately towards castle park exit.

"Tall, very dark hair, white T-shirt and blue jeans. A couple of dog walkers were in the park at time so might have got a good look at his face."

The warning was posted to the local Tallaght Neighbourhood Watch group, with many locals sharing their fear of being out alone.

One said: "Hope you are ok - what a bad experience for you and it's scary - I've got Grankids and worry about them. You just have to be weary all the time and never walk alone sadly."
