A police cordon is in place at the entrance of Northway Recreational Ground, after unconfirmed reports of a stabbing.
The Merseyside Police cordon is close to Northway Primary School on the junction of Deverell Road and Northway, in Wavertree.
Pictures from the scene show the gated entrance and a small section of the park are currently cordoned off by police.
It is understood the cordon has been in place since around 7.30pm.
Within the cordon there is also an abandoned black, red and grey push bike, which appears to have been left on the grass in an area close to the footpath.
The ECHO has received unconfirmed reports of a stabbing, but the Force Incident Manager declined to comment when contacted.
