A man has been left with serious injuries and his XL Bully dog killed in an attempted murder at a park in Scotland.
Police were called to Eric Hendrie Park, Aberdeen, at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
The victim, 51, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition is said to be “serious but stable”.
Police were called to the scene following reports of a "disturbance" and a vehicle in the park.
Detective Sergeant Emma Low said: “Our investigation is at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.
“Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting incident number 3236 of July 27.
“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
In February last year, XL Bullies became illegal to breed, sell or give away.
The ban was brought in after a spate of horror dog attacks.
