Paris Terror: #MuslimsAreNotTerrorist starts trending on Twitter after Paris attack

#MuslimsAreNotTerrorist began trending on Twitter as Muslims around the world took a stand against the attackers in Paris and anti-Islamic prejudice on social media.

Tweeters using the hashtag tried to distance Islam from the crimes committed in Paris and were adament that Isis does not represent their views.

The hashtag was in response to the attackers and to those who had taken to twitter to condemn all Muslims and brand the religion as evil, after a night of terror in the French capital.

The attacks were launched in six separate locations across the city and police have said there were eight perpetrators, all of whom are now dead.

Those responsible are thought to have used Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and suicide bomb vests.

One of the gunmen is reported to have shouted: "It's for Syria", according to French TV channel BFMTV.

The Islamic State has taken responsibility for the attacks which have killed at least 127 people in the French capital.
