Paris Saint-Germain diehards flaunt coronavirus lockout with defiant Champions League pre-match battle cry

Defiant Paris-Saint Germain supporters have produced a rallying cry for the ages as thousands of supporters lined the Parc des Princes despite being locked out.

UEFA have closed the doors to spectators for the clash between the French champions and Borussia Dortmund as Kylian Mbappe and Co eye Champions League progression.

The team bus was engulfed in smoke from flares as club diehards chanted club anthems to give their stars a boost.

The club had requested that the match be shown on a big screen outside the ground, but the rejection of that idea didn't deter the home fans.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel addressed the lack of supporters inside the ground and conceded a lack of noise in the old arena could be a major issue.

He said: "It's a strange situation because we're playing without our spectators. In a match of this importance, they are very important to create a special atmosphere, tension, pressure on our opponent."

The Ligue 1 big spenders trail 2-1 from the first leg in Dortmund

And the scenes witnessed in Paris could commonplace in Europe over the coming weeks with fans booked up to travel for a host of fixtures across the continent.

Rangers supporters have been urged to heed the latest COVID-19 advice with the announcement their second leg in Leverkusen will be played behind closed doors.

But a large Light Blues contingent are already booked to travel to Germany next week as coronavirus sweeps through Europe.
