Paris Jackson Reacts To Critics Slamming Her For Touring On Her Dad’s Death Anniversary

Paris Jackson has responded after critics hounded her for a performance scheduled for the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death

The middle child of the late pop star took to social media on Saturday to address the hullabaloo, which erupted when fans noticed she has a performance slated for June 25 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

For those counting, that date happens to coincide with the 16-year anniversary of Michael’s death, which occurred back in 2009 after he suffered a heart attack due to a drug overdose.

Fans of Michael were quick to admonish Paris for choosing to perform instead of honouring the anniversary, but she wasn’t taking any of the criticism lying down.

“So, people are mad again,” the singer said in a series of videos shared to her Instagram Stories per news.com.au

Paris went on to acknowledge that while June 25 is “a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family”, she has no control over which dates she performs, since she is simply the opening act of a broader tour headlined by American rock band Incubus.

“I guess I have to explain to these people is that when… you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform or what time you go on stage to perform, or what city you perform in,” Paris said, adding that the decision lies with the “big boss” headliner.

Paris went on to explain that her status as a concert opener means she wasn’t going to “make a big fuss” about a tour date happening to clash with Michael’s anniversary.

“Also, why the fuck would I make a big fuss about it?”, Paris said.

“This feels like [Incubus] doing me a favour by bringing me out on tour, so [what], I’m gonna tell ’em, ‘Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’”.

In a final message to the haters, Paris delivered a simple yet always effective “fuck you”.

It’s not the first time Paris has hit out at her opponents, having taken aim at everyone from TMZ to supporters of Donald Trump and the Aussie media landscape as a whole.

Given all the allegations against her dad, Paris would’ve copped heat for honouring the anniversary anyway, so kudos to her for rocking out on stage instead.
