Paris Hilton says Britney Spears is 'being treated like a child' in conservatorship

Paris Hilton has defended Britney Spears as fans continue to campaign for the singer to be released from her conservatorship.

For the last 12 years she hasn't had control over her personal life, finances or business affairs after her father Jamie was put in charge of them following her public mental breakdown.

Amid the release of the Framing Britney Spears controversy and the Free Britney campaign to get her released from the conservatorship, Paris, who was friends with Britney around the time of her breakdown, has voiced her support for her pal.

She said Britney is being "treated like a child" after working hard for her success.

Speaking on her podcast podcast This is Paris, Paris said: "It makes me really feel for her, because she's such a sweet girl and has such a big heart and I just can't imagine being controlled like that.

"You know, when you're an adult and you've worked your whole life for building this empire and then just to be treated like a child, it's just not fair."

Paris also said the recent attention on Britney's story has made her think about how she dealt with fame back then.

She added: "I've been reading all of these articles coming out where they were just saying, like, Britney, Paris and a group of us were treated so unfairly and just like, this really misogynistic view and just being very cruel and mean and making fun of us.

"I never really thought about it as much…

"It made me think a lot this week, reading all these new things that are coming out after the Britney film."

Britney's dad Jamie is no longer the sole conservator in his daughter's case after a judge ruled that the Bessemer Trust would be a co-conservator.

Jamie recently said that the Free Britney campaigners "have it so wrong".

Britney herself has not spoken out directly about the documentary.
