Paris Hilton has revealed that she’s BFFs with her long-term buddy Britney Spears.
During an interview with ET for the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards: Unscripted, the former star of The Simple Life revealed that the pair are still very close after nearly 20 years of friendship.
Interviewer Lauren Zima referred to the current retro craze for the early-Noughties, and said: “You have so many fans and we’re in this age of nostalgia, I know that Britney Spears mentioned you the other day, you mentioned her on your social media. I love seeing that. How much do you guys still stay in touch?
Paris replied: "I love her, I was actually texting with her just last week. And she’s so sweet and just down to earth and really an amazing woman and I’m just so proud of her.”
Lauren then asked Paris about Britney’s love life. The Baby One More Time star has been dating actor Sam Asghari, 27, for several years after the pair met on the set of her 2016 music video for Slumber Party.
Paris said: "I think they’re really cute together. He seems to really care, which I like. He makes her smile."
This isn’t the first time that Paris has spoken out in defence of her friend. In a recent episode of her This Is Paris podcast, she talked about Britney’s controversial conservatorship by her father, and remarked: “I just can’t imagine being controlled like that. When you’re an adult and you’ve worked your whole life to build this empire, and then to be treated like a child is not fair.”
Earlier this year she posted a video on her Instagram of a compilation of throwback snaps of the pair together over the decades.
She used Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are as the soundtrack and wrote: "Love you @BritneySpears."
