Paris Hilton pulls out of Lorraine interview last minute after suddenly falling ill

Paris Hilton pulled out of an interview with Lorraine Kelly last minute today after falling ill.

The 39-year-old, who is considered one of the first major reality TV stars after rising to stardom in The Simple Life in 2003, had been due to talk about her new YouTube documentary.

This Is Paris sees her open up to her family for the very first time over a trauma she suffered during her childhood.

Earlier today, Lorraine had teased that Paris would be appearing on the ITV programme but the host later confirmed that that wasn't the case.

Speaking to Ross Matthews, Lorraine said: "We were supposed to be talking to Paris Hilton today. Sadly we got a call very, very late last night saying that's she's not well.

"We obviously wish her well and hope she gets better soon."

Lorraine addressed some of the big headlines from the documentary, which she said she had watched.

"When I watched the documentary I thought, 'Not a happy life'. She's invented this character and even speaks in a funny voice. I thought that was her voice but it's not at all! She's a bright girl but she puts on an act."

Ross added that he remembered saying to people years ago that that wasn't her voice.

"She's a sharp cookie," Ross quipped and pointed out that Paris paved the way for Kim Kardashian's road to fame.

"It's terribly sad because she's a bit of a wild child as well," Lorraine said. "Her mum and dad sent her off to a very strict boarding school and she was physically abused there and it's stayed with her forever.

"I think she's someone desperately looking for love and desperately looking for validation, I suppose. It's just very sad.

"I hope she comes back, I would love to speak to her."

*Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
