Paris Fashion Week: There’s a buzz about Kenzo’s bee-friendly show

Kenzo opened the third day of Paris Fashion Week today with a physical show set in a garden.

Attended by a reduced guest list of socially distanced editors huddled under umbrellas, Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s second show for the label was also streamed online.

The collection, Bee a Tiger, celebrated nature and was an ode to bees, “the regulators of the planet”. It drew heavily on beekeeper outfits, with loose-fit trousers, multi-pocket jackets and wide brim hats with organza veils. In fresh, zingy springtime hues of acid green, electric blue and coral, the collection had an outdoor feel.

The classic Kenzo poppy motif was also reworked with a crying effect. “The world is crying,” Baptista said. “So are the flowers.”

Yesterday Dior also held a physical show, with Maria Grazia Chiuri producing a bookish, boho meditation on functional fashion.

It was one of the first in-person events of Paris Fashion Week, with a show that was also livestreamed on TikTok.
