March 15--Bomber jackets, knife-pleated skirts, skirts-over-pants, bushy furs (real or faux), tuxedo jumpsuits and modern takes on the corset were some of the clothing trends at Paris Fashion Week. But what about accessories?
Stella McCartney's climbing pearls, Dries Van Noten's chunky chains, Miu Miu's daisy collars and Herm賧 modernist sautoirs proved that the statement necklace is here to stay. And so is statement ear candy (climbing earrings at Balenciaga), face jewelry (nose rings and piercings at Givenchy), even statement belts (gold chain and coin belts are back, as seen at Louis Vuitton and Chanel).
When it comes to the feet, bedazzled is also better -- open weave ballet pumps at C鬩ne and ladylike heels at Rochas were dripping crystals. Ankle boots were given the glam rock treatment in velvet and brocade at Van Noten and McCartney, and sexy, thigh-high boots made a splash at Dior and Isabel Marant.
Handbags? How about the new boho patchwork python Hudson hobo from Chlo鬠a hefty vanity case from Vuitton, or the charming Flamenco Petal drawstring leather bouquet bag from Loewe?
And for those looking to indulge in the ultimate in high-low punk luxe, Saint Laurent has ripped fishnet stockings with tiny crystal details, sure to cost a fortune.
