Paris explosion: Motorcycle explodes in front of Jordanian military office in France

A motorcycle has exploded in front of Jordanian military office in Paris.

French officials said no one was hurt after the scooter caught fire, causing a small explosion.

Police are investigating whether the fire was started deliberately on Wednesday morning in front of the Jordanian military attache's office on the upmarket Avenue Foch in the west of the city.

The flames spread to a diplomatic vehicle but a Jordanian embassy spokesman said they did not believe its office had been targeted.

Abdallah Alolaimat, a consular official at the embassy in Paris, said none of the country's staff were hurt.

Jordan's Petra news agency quoted a foreign ministry spokesman as saying the explosion caused minor damage to vehicles parked in front of the building.

The agency said the Jordanian ambassador in Paris was reassured about the safety of the workers in the military mission.

"A motorbike exploded in front of the building where the military attache's office is. The police are investigating," said Mr Alolaimat. "It doesn't seem to be an intentional act that targets Jordan."

Paris police said an investigation had been opened, but there was nothing to suggest the incident was related to terrorism.
