A woman who survived the terror attack on La Belle Equipe restaurant in Paris is reportedly currently in a state of shock and barely able to speak, except to say the name of the man who jumped in front of her to save her.
Parisian Chloe Clement was inside the restaurant for a birthday celebration when gunmen opened fire, killing 19 people altogether. One of those killed was a friend of Miss Clement’s, 40-year old Ludovic Boumbas, a Congolese man who shielded her from the hail of bullets and was fatally wounded.
Miss Clement was shot in the arm, but survived the attack. She is now recovering in hospital, but is so traumatised that she lies in bed repeating Mr Boumbas’ name, according to MailOnline.
Manager of a nearby bar called Café des Anges, where many who attended the celebration worked, Virgile Grunberg, visited Miss Clement in the hospital and spoke of her condition. Mr Grunberg, 27, told the site: “She was on morphine and was in shock. She would barely speak.”
“She felt guilty because Ludovic died for her. She just kept repeating his name again and again.”
An unnamed friend of Mr Boumbas told MailOnline: “[Ludo] loved travelling the world and above all he loved people. He was just one of life’s good, good people. He didn’t stand a chance.”
Both Miss Clement and Mr Boumbas were at the restaurant to celebrate the 35th birthday of waitress Houda Saadi, who was also killed in the attack.
Ms Saadi and her sister Halima, 36, both died in La Belle Equipe. Their brother Khaled Saadi was working at the restaurant during the party and told The Telegraph of how he survived the attack and tried to save his sisters.
