Paris attacks: Le Bataclan concert hall management issue first statement in wake of shooting

A first statement on the Paris attacks has been released by the management of the Bataclan concert hall, the scene of the deadliest of Friday’s shootings.

At least 89 people were shot dead at the venue when three gunmen opened fire at the back of a packed gig by the American band Eagles of Death Metal.

A hostage situation ensued, before two of the gunmen detonated suicide vests and a third was shot dead by police marksmen.

The statement by Le Bataclan, posted across its social media profiles, read as follows:

“Dear friends,

Words are not enough to express the magnitude of our sadness.

Our thoughts are with the victims, those injured and their families.

Many of you would like to gather at the Bataclan, but unfortunately the authorities still need to carry out more work on the site. We will inform you when it is possible to gather in front of the hall.

Thank you for your support, which has touched us deeply.”
