A BBC reporter was forced to end a live broadcast after he became overcome with emotion at the site of the Paris attacks.
Graham Satchell broke down as he reported from the capital days after five gun and bomb attacks killed 129 people and injured more than 350.
Satchell spoke of Parisians’ renewed sense of hope in the days after the massacre while standing next to flowers, cards and messages paying tribute to the victims.
“There were vigils here, vigils at the Eiffel Tower, the tower was lit up in red, white and blue which I think is a sign of hope,” he said before placing his head in his hands. “Sorry, so sorry. We will leave it here.”
Satchell was praised for showing such a human response to the tragedy.
“An honest correspondent who shows his true emotions,” said one viewer. “Love and support to Graham and all the crew in Paris.
Another added: “Thank you Graham Satchell for showing that emotion has as much a place as stoicism at this time.”
Satchell thanked viewers for their kind words on Twitter and admitted feeling “slightly mortified” by what he described as a “moment”.
