Parents warned Cow & Gate baby food could be unsafe as jars are recalled

Parents are being urged to check the cupboards after it was revealed that a baby food product could be "unsafe to eat".

Cow & Gate have been urgently recalling one of their products over fears it could contain pieces of a blue rubber glove.

Fragments of rubber have been found in several 250g jars of Cheesy Broccoli Bake for babies aged 10 months and older.

And The Food Standards Agency (FSA) have issued a warning as a result – deeming them "unsafe to eat".

Jars have been on sale at major supermarkets Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's along with Boots.

The Mirror reports that parents are being urged to check to see if they have any of the products in their cupboards.

The affected batch features number 28122020 and has a best before date of 28 December, 2020.

Jars affected can be returned to the store it was bought from and a full refund will be given – even without a receipt.

Cow & Gate say only one batch was affected and the jars don't pose a major health risk, but they are being recalled as they don't meet company standards.

A spokesperson for Cow & Gate said: "Nothing is more important to us than the safety and quality of our products.

"We are sorry this has happened and would like to reassure parents that this is an isolated incident."

Cow & Gate can be contacted on 0800 977 4000.
