Parents warned as young children in Blanchardstown allegedly targets of two men in Hyundai car

There are concerns for young children living in one North Dublin area as they are allegedly being targeted by two men in a Hyundai car.

It is said that the two men in a black car have been approaching children in Dublin 15 and asking them to get in the vehicle.

This has been reported in both the Brookhaven and Edgewood Lawn areas since Tuesday, July 13.

A member of Brookhaven Neighbourhood Watch said: “This has been reported to the Garda but please speak to your children and make them aware never talk to strangers or get in anyone's car and to run straight home. Stay safe.”

A local woman said that the men approached her sons.

She commented: “Hey it was my lads. It happened yesterday. Then again today a similar thing happened. It has been reported twice to the guards.

"The boys ran off straight away when it happened. Best to let people know and make kids aware of stranger danger.

"It was two men. They were Irish but had strong accents.

"They started laughing when they said it and then turned around and drove off as the boys ran away."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardai received report of a vehicle acting suspiciously in the Edgewood Lawns area of Dublin 15 on Thursday, 15 July 2021 at approximately 4pm.

"Gardai patrolled the area however the vehicle was not observed.

"Enquiries are ongoing into this matter."
