Parents warned after 'suspicious' woman seen loitering near school

A woman acting suspiciously has been reportedly hanging around outside a school in Stretford, parents have been warned.

The woman was seen outside an unspecified Stretford secondary school and approached students asking them questions, which left them feeling ‘uncomfortable’.

A warning message has now been sent to families with children in schools across Trafford, making all parents and carers aware of the situation.

One school’s warning to parents read: “We have received notification from Trafford of a suspicious female loitering outside a secondary school in the Stretford area.

“The individual is reported to have approached pupils asking them about the school. This has left those pupils feeling uncomfortable.

“The college asks that all parents/carers remind boys to remain vigilant as they travel to and from school.

“The school in question have notified their local neighbourhood policing team who will pick up patrols in the area at drop off/pick up times.

“If you have any concerns regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact the college.”

The parent who shared the letter, whose children attend a college in the borough, said they felt everyone needed to be aware of what was going on.

Greater Manchester Police was contacted for comment.

Stretford Grammar and Stretford High School were both contacted for comment.
