Parents urged to stop using popular baby car seat immediately as recall alert issued

  • A critical product recall has been issued for the Maxi-Cosi Family Fix Slide Pro Base car seat , with consumers urged to immediately stop using the product due to a significant "risk of injuries" to children.
  • The recall, detailed by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), targets all Family Fix Slide Pro Base seats manufactured in China between 6 September last year and 24 March 2026.
  • The core issue is a malfunctioning safety indicator that may display 'green' for correct installation even when the car seat is not fully attached to the base, potentially causing it to move or detach.
  • This fault means the product is non-compliant with the General Product Safety Regulations 2005, as users might mistakenly believe the seat is properly connected when it is not.
  • Maxi-Cosi advises customers to check their product by entering the model reference and manufacturing date, found on a white label on the underside of the base, on their website.
