Parents unhappy as Bonnybrook Community Creche in Coolock set for closure

Angry parents have started a petition after being informed that Bonnybrook Community Creche on the Glin Road is due for closure in August.

With the premises set to transform into a youth centre, the parents have said that no alternatives have been explored or put in place for the children who attend the creche.

Clodagh Leach, whose two-and-a-half-year-old son attends the creche, set up the petition, and explained to Dublin live how the creche is like a 'second family' to her son, saying: "There is days when he doesn't want to eat breakfast with me, he wants to eat it there!

"Even when I bought him new pyjamas at the start of the year, he wanted to wear them in to show the workers what they looked like, that just shows how close they are.

"It's great for me as there is an app where I can see at any time of the day what he is up to, what class he has or what he is eating.

"If this closes, I will have to wait till 2020 to find a creche that will take him, as there is nowhere local with any free spaces."
