Parents were told by police to "take responsibility" by police after gangs of teenagers terrorised one Merseyside town.
Officers from the St Helens branch of Merseyside Police said they had spent the "majority" of Tuesday night chasing gangs of teenagers in town. They added Chain Lane shopping precinct has been "plagued" by reports of anti-social behaviour which is causing "distress" to shoppers and workers.
St Helens bus station has also been targeted by the gangs of young people, causing nuisance to drivers, staff and the public, police said. One boy was taken home from Chain Lane after being caught stealing from the Co-op.

Police urged parents to "take responsibility" for their children and "make sure they aren't involved" in the incidents reported by officers. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Team 3 have spent the majority of the night chasing gangs of teenagers around yet again. Chain Lane shopping precinct has been plagued by reports of anti-social behaviour which is causing distress to the public and shop workers alike.
"Also, St Helens bus station has been targeted again by gangs of youths causing nuisance to the public, staff and drivers. One juvenile male was taken home from Chain Lane after being caught stealing from the Co-Op Store.
"If these are your children, then please take responsibility for them and make sure they aren't involved in tonight's incidents. Thank you."
