Parents told to speak to children after man seen 'behaving inappropriately' in area

Parents are being warned to speak to their children after a man was seen 'behaving inappropriately' near a school.

St Julie's High School in Woolton sent out the warning to all parents after they were contacted by another school in the area.

A parent, who asked not to be named, forwarded the message to the ECHO.

The message, from the school's safeguarding team, states that the matter has been reported to police who were investigating.

It reads: "A school has contacted us yesterday afternoon to report a male acting inappropriately in the Woolton area.

"The matter has been reported to police who addressed this issue.

"Please remind your child of the importance and ways of staying safe on their journey to and from school. Thank you - the safeguarding team."

The worried mum told the ECHO that since the incident, which is understood to have happened last week, she has been taking and collecting her daughter from school.

The warning comes after another alleged report, in the Aintree area, of a child on their way to school being approached by a number of men.

The message which was posted on a public crimewatch page and sent from a school in the area to all parents, reads: "A school has contacted us this morning to state a child was approached by a number of men in the Aintree area of Liverpool.

"Schools may wish to share this with parents who may also want to take additional steps to safeguard their child's journey to school.'

Anyone who has any information can contact Merseyside Police or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
